Was really looking forward yo this meal after hearing so many good things. Bank Holiday Monday, easily got a table, which we were surprised about. It was a Sunday menu, which we didn't see announced anywhere online. The choices were half a rotisserie chicken or full rotisserie chicken,or a vegetable option. So disappointed 😞 The starters one was nice, the crackling was inedible other than maybe 2 pieces out of 10. We did tell the waitress, who didn't seem that interested, said she would tell the chef, but as you can see the chefs, she didn't do this. The chicken was ok, chips, the salad was nice, and different. The star of the whole meal was the pudding, sticky toffee pudding was amazing. There was no knowledge of a wine to go with the dessert, which you get at other top notch restaurants. For the price paid it was disappointing. The place itself is beautiful, well done, and really up market, but comfortable and with a lovely atmosphere. Staff were friendly, and other than the waitress, who maybe was new, were knowledgeable, and approachable. Just very disappointed after waiting to get in, and all the hype surrounding, check the menu, and unless you are happy with chicken, maybe don't go on a Sunday. Maybe it was just because of a bank holiday? 🤔
Finally visited and it was so worth it. A real treat. Great food and service. A Margate gem.
Excellent food. Ordered pork scratchings as a snack and then went straight into mains - braised rib of beef, mussels, broccoli - followed by afters - panna cotta, fool - and then an Irish coffee and flat white. It was a cool but sunny day, and some were enjoying sitting on the terrace. A rather cool breeze was flowing through the dining room. One tip for the Irish coffee, the coffee and whisky need to be sweetened.
